Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford University

The Future of Humanity Institute (FHI) is an interdisciplinary research institute at Oxford University. It is part of the James R. Martin 21st Century School and the renowned Oxford Philosophy Department, which is consistently ranked among the top in the world. FHI studies big picture questions for humanity, looking at how anticipated technological developments could affect the human condition, and how to better understand, evaluate, and respond to radical change. FHI has three focus areas: Ethics and Human Enhancement, Global Catastrophic Risk, and Rationality, Wisdom, and Methodology. FHI takes a multidisciplinary approach to its work through research, philosophical techniques, ethical analysis, and policy evaluation. FHI also facilitates public engagement and informed discussion among stakeholders in government, industry, not-for-profit, and academia.
