I encourage all SIAI supporters to send their suggestions to Tyler. I think that an FAQ could really jumpstart useful Singularity discussions. I think that part of the problem to this point is that most Singularity literature takes the form of long and abstract essays or fragmentary mailing-list posts. If new readers can't understand a concept quickly, I suspect that they'll move on quickly. An extensive FAQ could help make SIAI a premiere knowledge resource regarding the Singularity. Let's git-r-done.

Probably the most common questions would be:

What is a technological singularity ?

How soon will it arrive ?

How will it change my life ?

As GNR technologies advance, who will be the winners and losers. Or to rephrase, how can I best position my company to take advantage of these technologies?

Is the body obsolete ? (Stelarc)

What is AGI ?

Don't exponential trends always come to an end ?

Will there ever be a robot which can iron shirts or plump a pillow ?

How can AI technologies be used to mitigate problems arising from changes in demographics ?

Is Google working towards AGI ?

I am a senior in highschool at Lake Wales Senior High School. I would love to know what rout I need to take in life to be on the team desining the first general A.I. I am heading to the Army directly after high school for four years to earn money for college. I was wondering what I could do during that time and after to get me to the point of advanced A.I. programing. I am in AP Calculus and BC Physics but have little programing background but plan to change that when I can afford my own computer, to put Linux on so I can program. Any advice would be an enormous help.

I'd recommend starting with the SIAI reading list (I'm no where near finished with it myself). AGI folks have been thinking about this stuff for a while - and that literature is already fairly distilled. Without direction, you could end up studying a lot of stuff that isn't really useful for AGI programming. I hope your interest is also in creating a friendly AGI. :-)

Can I have collaboration of expert in new technologies for inventions, intelligence and sociology?
I’m artist inventor and I think I have original ideas for technologies for programs of TV for concurs of intelligence, opinion and justice. I think I can create a machine of intelligent opinions, not only for programs in TV but perhaps for politic democracies and justice. But I don’t know much of technologies and recent evolution of application in sociology, marketing and opinions. Can You help me or suggest somebody to help me?
My priority questions:
1.	Somebody make something about it?
2.	There are programs or studies of correlation that can be developed to measure intelligence?
3. Can I have collaboration of expert in new technologies for sociology?
Thank You very much
