Why no mp3s? I suppose I can download them and convert to audio myself but would be nice to listen to on my mp3 player.

Why did they take the videos down? Yeah, they were slow as hell but that was better than nothing. If they are fixing them they should leave the old ones up until they have replacement FLVs or something.

Most (if not all) videos from SS08 are up on YouTube, in varying degrees of quality.

I want to see some *accelerated change* in how quickly videos are posted from the Summits ;-)

Yeah, I saw them the other day but I can’t find them now. What tags?

I am actually getting pretty pissed. If they were selling them or something and wanted to protect their market or something I could understand. But this is just incompetence.

Next year, someone external to the organizations will have to record their videos for us. We cannot rely on whoever is ddirecting this obviously.

Couldn’t make the conference this year. Have been waiting for these videos for a long time. What happened?

@gadfly I just went to YouTube to watch the last of them, and they’ve all been pulled down. Maybe I should’ve kept my mouth shut. There are torrents for videos from years past, but nothing for ‘08. Looks like we’re at the mercy of SIAI.

Videos get posted here and on youtube, then get pulled down shortly afterwards. Why did it take so long for the videos to appear after the conference? Is there something that the Singularity Institute is trying to hide?

@Bob Mottram Yeah, maybe Esther Dyson requested that her segment be pulled down and re-filmed. She’s a brilliant, wonderful woman, but I think stage fright got the best of her.

Either that, or Aubrey de Grey slipped up and started talking about that one time he hung out with Leonardo DaVinci.

(website in progress)

Please say you are not wasting your own money and bandwidth by hosting your own videos and have created a youtube channel for yourself.

With HD available now (and adsense available as a revenue stream) there’s no good reason not to!

Looking forward to the videos!
